Adjustment Disorder

Adjustment disorder is a mental health condition characterized by emotional or behavioral symptoms that develop in response to a stressful life event or change. These symptoms typically occur within three months of the onset of the stressor and are disproportionate to the severity or intensity of the stressor. Unlike other mental health disorders, the symptoms of adjustment disorder do not meet the criteria for another specific mental health condition.

Counselling provides individuals with adjustment disorder the support, guidance, and tools they need to cope with stressful life events, regain emotional balance, and adapt to change.

Adjustment disorder is a relatively common and treatable mental health condition that occurs in response to stressful life events. With appropriate support and treatment, most individuals with adjustment disorder can recover and resume their normal activities and functioning.
